3 Delicious Winter DIY Face Masks for Dry Skin

Colder weather means more nights in getting cozy in front of the fire with loved ones as well as cozy socks, warm apple cider, Christmas movies…the list goes on.It should also mean more pamper evenings where you just put your feet up after a long day and treat yourself to one of these awesome Face Masks for Dry Skin that will deeply hydrate your skin and help you to unwind from all the stresses of the day!

Pumpkin and Honey Face Mask

If you’re like me, you went a little crazy with the mini pumpkins this season. That’s not a bad thing though!

Pumpkins are packed with Vitamins A, C and E which are all known to combat wrinkles and keep your skin plump and hydrated all winter long. Not to mention, beta-carotene, zinc, and anti-oxidant power your skin will feel!

Honey, honey, honey…it’s not just for the bears. Oh no, this delicious, decadent ingredient does a whole ‘lotta good for your skin too. Hydration? Check. Glowing skin? Check.

Here’s how to make this face mask – just try not to eat it all before it goes on your face!

Ingredients:

  • 2tbsp Organic pumpkin puree or the puree from one small pumpkin
  • ½ tsp raw honey

Simply mix these two ingredients together in a bowl and voila! Apply to a cleansed skin and  leave on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water and patting dry.

If you want to make it more festive and fragrant, a pinch or two of cinnamon or nutmeg won’t do any harm.

Oatmeal, Banana, Milk Morning Mask

These may sound like the perfect ingredients for a yummy and filling breakfast, but did you know you can feed your skin with them as well?

With its  anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, oatmeal is well known for soothing the skin….even if you have sensitive skin that tends to flare up or turn red! For those who have acne, oatmeal is a great remedy since it works to absorb the oils on the surface of the skin.

Bananas are known as “nature’s botox” as they help to smooth the skin and provide intense hydration.

Milk contains lactic acid, which helps to slough off dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling baby soft! Just follow the recipe below to indulge in this luxurious mask!

Ingredients:

  • ½ banana
  • 1 tbsp ground oats (throw in the blender for a few minutes if you don’t have ground oats)
  • 1 tbsp organic milk

Mash the banana and add your oats and milk until well combined. Apply to a cleansed skin for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

Decadent Chocolate-Avocado Mask

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Well, it’s a good thing if you do, because cocoa is jam packed with antioxidants, specifically, a group of antioxidants called flavanols that reduce redness in the skin and protect your skin against the damaging effects of free radicals. In fact, pure cocoa has even more antioxidants than red wine and green tea!

Avocado is full of fatty acids and antioxidants that help to reduce inflammation, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and repair the skin. When combined with cocoa you have a face mask powerhouse of nutrients for your face, and one of the most beneficial face masks for dry skin!

Ingredients:

  • 1 small avocado
  • 2 tbsp pure cocoa
  • 2tbsp honey

Mash the avocado and stir in your cocoa and honey until a chocolatey, creamy mousse forms. Apply to a cleansed skin for 20-30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

This will make at least 3 face masks so you can store the remainder in the fridge, but we recommend that you pour it into a bowl and eat it up, because this is a delicious dessert! We are serious.
