The Old Crow Tattoo Balm

Nothing but pure unadulterated awesome here. The Old Crow tattoo balm is the best natural tattoo balm to condition and protect your tattoo as it contains with the magical goodness of Beeswax, Hemp & Coconut oils plus Cocoa & Shea butters!  Your tattoo will heal more comfortably and the colors will show better than ever. Developed by my tattoo artist friend, Cody Rawlinson and a recurrent tattoo recipient, me!

Directions: gingerly apply The Old Crow – tattoo balm into your kick ass tatty 24-48 hours after your last session.  Apply twice a day to allow for maximal healing (morning and before you retire at night) for 2 weeks or more.  Repeated applications after scabbing has diminished is encouraged to condition your tattoo and keep it looking its best!

The Lowen’s Super Salve/Butter Balm Story

I met Cody, the kick ass tattoo artist with whom I developed this balm with,  through an ad I put up as I was selling off my back-country snowboard.  I was pretty bummed to be selling it as not too long prior have been diagnosed with 3 chronic health conditions and didn’t ever anticipate using it again.  Anyhow, I soon found out Cody was an accomplished tattoo artist and we ended up working out a barter exchange – the split-board for tattoo work.  I ended up getting 2/3rds of my back done, my calf and my wife Lindsay got some touch-ups.  Believe me, Cody got the short end of the stick here but he reiterated that he was committed to seeing the work done.  Over the next 2 years, he scheduled me in when he had an opening and last winter he finished up.  (I’d say “we” but all I did was lie there and shoot the breeze with Cody).

Through our sessions we got to know each other quite well.  I told Cody about Lowen’s and he was willing to try out some products on his clients (and myself, of course!).  So, through that time, we also tested and refined Lowen’s The Old Crow Tattoo Balm who’s release would coincide with Cody’s opening of his new studio – The Old Crow.

The Old Crow Tattoo Balm is the culmination of our collective efforts – sourcing the fewest, yet most effective ingredients, many local, in a preservative free balm that helps your body art to healsup nice and easy, assisting you with any discomfort, as well as ensuring even healing so that the finished product looks it’s best.

Like we say, you put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into your tattoo (as well as a fair load of money).  Take care of it afterward – “Be smart with yer art!”

I am familiar with Lowen’s other balms and lip salves, and wanted to try this. I do not have a tattoo, but live in Alberta where the moisture content of the air is very low, and I have to wash my hands a lot during the day.

The salve has a melting point well below body temperature, so even as small an amount as 1g (a baby fingernail portion) starts to disintegrate immediately, is sufficient enough, and disappears in less than a minute into the hands. It is then safe to pick up your knitting, or touch anything else without feeling greasy.
The scent is natural, with a bit of hemp, and nothing too flowery or overpowering. Congratulations Chad on another great product.
